Renaud Visage is Co-founder & CTO of Eventbrite, the global marketplace for event registration and ticketing – and a serious disruptor in its sector. We asked him about how the company uses data to drive value for its customers.

There was all the usual good stuff about using it to improve the customer journey, to improve the product, but one part of the answer was less common, and certainly worth considering for the treasure troves of data that are telcos. Give it back to the customers so it helps them as well…

Renaud Visage – Co-founder & CTO, Eventbrite:

“So we have a lot of data, and I think the trick is to make it so that your end users in the end have the power. Creating the tools that they need to slice and dice, to create cohorts, to do all the things we do as a business. But putting the power into their hands so they can make better decision on how they run their business. I think a lot of the emphasis on the tech is good, but the reality is data is only useful if you can derive some valuable insights on how to run your business. And we do that all the time; we have a very data driven culture.

Every decision we make has to be backed by data, has to be explained by data or motivated by some amount of data. And I think our clients want the same power. It’s our duty, I think, to open that up.”
