Cathy C. Smith is the CEO of Chameleon Consulting, has a track record of using technology and risk management practices to transform business operations in highly regulated industries. In her 20+ years in financial services, Cathy has been a strategist and change agent with forward-thinking, technology-based techniques to digitize organizations and reposition firms for growth in the digital economy. She is the Author of “How to Become a Digital Leader: A Roadmap to Success” and Contributing Author to the book 5 Pillars of Security Framework (ForbesBooks Publisher – 2020 release).
Cathy’s executive experience has been significant and at well-known financial institutions where she advised business leaders, management consulting firms, and federal regulators on building secure digitally enabled banks. Her specializations include Digital Business Transformation, Customer Experience, Cloud Strategy, and Cybersecurity Risk Management. She recently completed research on the new cyber risk assessment requirement for U.S. Department of Defense contractors, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
She earned a Master of Public Administration in Management from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from William Paterson University. She holds numerous certificates in Digital Business Transformation Management (Blockchain Secured), Scrum Fundamentals, Identity and Security, Financial Technology (FinTech), and Project Management from NJIT, a Mini MBA in Digital Marketing from Rutgers University, and an Executive Board Leadership Certificate from Seton Hall University.
Cathy’s dedication to technology education led her to serve as the Founder, Visionary, and Moderator of Women in Tech NJ & NY (WIT) where she partnered with Cyber Security Summit USA (rated Top 50 InfoSec Conference) to offer credit based continuing education for senior level executives. Cathy also served on the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Dean’s Executive Advisory Board as Chair and Board Member, where she developed private/public partnerships for the city-wide CyberNYC program. She is a past Chairwoman for the Department of Labor Workforce Investment Board and also served as Chairwoman for the Paterson Board of Education Arts Advocacy.
