Accenture has put itself in the picture with the acquisition of computer graphic specialists Mackevision for an undisclosed sum, bringing the award winning special effects team behind ‘ Game of Thrones ‘ under its wing.
Mackevision will augment Accenture Interactive’s existing content practice with the addition of a repertoire of skills that include 3d visualisation, animation and effects – ramping up its capabilities in customer experiences, industrial and extended reality applications.
In addition to blockbuster television Mackevision also delivers virtual showrooms, point of sale kiosks, augmented and virtual reality experiences.
Jamie Posnanski, global content practice lead, Accenture Interactive, said: “Mackevision has a deep roster of highly-relevant creative and technical talent in emergent capabilities, and operates with mature offerings on a global scale. It’s rare to find this combination in the market. We are highly impressed by the quality of the work, innovation, leadership, culture and, of course, talent on the Mackevision team, and we are excited for what our combined capabilities can mean for clients.”
Brian Whipple, head of Accenture Interactive added: “Mackevision’s capabilities will add a whole new dimension of content innovation to our portfolio of services. The ‘digital twin’ concept has massive implications not only from a scaled media production and marketing standpoint, but also for our broader vision of helping clients render the most compelling experiences possible.”
Mackevision’s client base is heavily automobile dependant including the likes of Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes Benz and Porsche.
The acquisition comes one year after Accenture’s Karmarama buy-out.
