Trump Backpedals On Putin/Cyber Security Tweet In Delusional Sunday Night Rant

Talk about a backtrack. The president took to Twitter yet again this Sunday, tweeting for the second time about his idea to cooperate with Russia in the creation of a “cyber security unit.” This time, however, the president said that even though he’d tweeted positively about the idea earlier in the day, he doesn’t actually think that cyber security cooperation with the Russians is actually ever going to happen. Twitter obviously had a lot to say about this.

Trump wrote, late Sunday evening:

‘The fact that President Putin and I discussed a Cyber Security unit doesn’t mean I think it can happen. It can’t-but a ceasefire can, & did!’

This statement contrasts starkly with the glowing, grade school book report style summation of his meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the recently concluded G-20 summit that he offered on Twitter just hours before.

Early Sunday, Trump wrote:

‘Putin & I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe.’

Although the White House ran with this idea, the president – unsurprisingly – received a massive amount of blowback for his suggestion that it’s a good idea to cooperate with Russia on cybersecurity. Russian leadership literally directed the hack of the Democratic National Committee in the lead-up to the 2016 general election – and Trump wanted to work with them on cybersecurity? Really? No matter how many different ways you say it, it doesn’t get any less stupid.

Accounts differed as to whether or not Trump truly “accepted” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s denial of having meddled in the 2016 presidential election during their recent meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit. Trump’s suggestion that we work with Russia on cybersecurity certainly indicated that he had accepted his denial.

Now, however, Trump has made a complete shift on this issue after the backlash against him. He has proven himself yet again to be not just sensitive, but obsessed with his public image, so much so that he’s willing to admit he was wrong for the sake of trying to salvage it. Trump is so far gone in la-la land that he’s unaware that his public image is basically un-salvageable.
